It's been a month since the epic battle with Shishio, and the "Kenshingumi" are preparing to return to Tokyo. Yahiko, though, realizes that in spite of his rather impressive achievements in that battle, he never got to see Shishio's face or the place where Kenshin and Shishio fought. Sanosuke, visiting the Mt. Hiei battleground to put his own demons to rest, offers to at least show Yahiko what is left of the battlefield.

As they walk through the passages toward the former hideout, Yahiko muses aloud about how the battle made him realize how much he still doesn't know, and how much growing up he has left to do. This self-awareness is not only a statement of how much he has matured in the months since he first met Kenshin, but also a wonderful indicator of the decent and impressive man he will become. A great scene.
